Basic Principles & Rules

 

  • The official correspondence and organization language of the Olympiad is English. In addition, German, Russian, Hungarian, Uzbek and Turkish language support can be provided during coordination and services.
  • The language of the exams is English.
  • The subject and content style of the exams is primarily based on the experiences of the participants in the Science Centers.
  • The difficulty level of the questions can be defined as 30% Easy Level 50% Intermediate Level 10% Standard Level 10% Difficult Level.
  • 6th, 7th and 8th grades are found in Category 1.
  • 9th, 10th and 11th grades are found in Category 2.
  • The first exam will be held at the Mathematics Science Center. This exam consists of about 20 questions and the average duration of the exam is 45-60 minutes.
  • Final Exam will be held in Goethe University (lectures) halls. This exam consists of 40 questions and the average duration of the exam is 80-100 minutes.
  • There are only 2 question booklets as Category 1 and Category 2. Grades 6-7-8 will solve the same questions in the same booklet. Grades 9-10-11 will solve the same questions in the same booklet. However, the total scores will be evaluated only within their own grade category. There will also be scoring in the general category. Thus, the participants in the lower classes (i.e. 6th and 7th grades) will be able to pass 8th grades if they earn a good score. It is also valid for 9-10-11 grades.
  • According to the number of participants during the exam, the booklets will be used in at least 2 fascicles. (Category -1A fascicle, Category-1B fascicle; Category -2A fascicle, Category-2B fascicle, etc.)
  • Question types are 3 kinds; Multiple choice (70%), Gap Filling (15%), Written Exam (15%)

  • The award ceremony will be announced separately, and the medal will be presented as the ones who are ranked in the Mathematics exam and those who are ranked in the Final Exam.

  • The 2020 organization quota of the IFS Olympiad is limited to 400 students. We recommend you hurry and take your place in the applications.
  • The Olympic Committee reserves the right to modify the concept and rules of the organization at any time in order to increase efficiency and satisfaction in the organization.
